Chevy Introduces Build-Your-Own-Engine Program
People
have always customized their cars, but a
new program at General Motors allows
enthusiast owners a chance at the
ultimate customization experience for
their new Corvette. Under the new
program, the owner can actually build
and customize the engine for their car.
Bar coding
makes the assembly process nearly
fool-proof as it syncs the torque of the
assembly tool to the part being
assembled. The barcode process also
allows Chevy to offer a full 100,000
mile warranty on the finshed engine,
which is thoroughly tested after
assembly. Once assembled, the engine
ships to Kentucky for final installation
in the finished car.
You can
spend more than six figures buying one
of these high performance Corvettes. If
it’s any consolation, the ZR-1 high
performance model was just named one of
the top 5 collectible cars of the
future. So who knows, it might
eventually go up in value -- especally
if you can document that you built your
own motor.

People living on Michigan interstate median
WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) - You've heard of squatters taking over abandoned homes. But what about squatters building a home in the middle of a highway? On Interstate 96, in the grassy median near the Alpine exit, you'll see a highway hut. WZZM discovered it and contacted Michigan State Police for back up. Officers say the shack has a tarp, a window, two pairs of shoes, and tents around it, making up a camp. Officers wouldn't approach the squatters because safety risks were too great.
We asked why nothing has been done. They told us to call Walker Police and Walker told us to contact Michigan Department of Transportation, the agency that owns the property.
"The policy is on a case by case scenario."
MDOT's John Richard says the agency doesn't actively remove homeless.
"We don't want to kick people out because when you do that you have to have a relocation program as well."
But with our state officers too afraid to go into the hut, we had to wonder what sort of public safety issues a stranded motorist could face.
Richard says, "Usually they're not an immediate danger to public, usually a danger to themselves, so that's why we deal with law enforcement, outreach and social services."
Officers told us, because MDOT owns the land they have to file a trespassing complaint before action can be taken. MDOT said they'd get back to us with what steps they plan to take. But Richard did says this isn't an isolated incident. He says it's a growing issue on interstates across Michigan.

Tea Party Banned in Michigan Town
Better not to let anyone

Coldwater, Michigan :
A federal
lawsuit claims a
Branch County tea party group was denied the right to
display banners and signs
at a tea party rally at a public park in Coldwater because
it was "too political" and "too controversial." The
Coldwater City Council then passed a resolution banning all
banners and signs in that park.
The Thomas
More Law Center law firm filed its lawsuit last week in the
U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
Attorney Robert Muise of the Thomas More Law Center alleged
that Coldwater City Manager Jeff Budd objected because the
Common Sense Patriots of Branch County were "too political"
and "too controversial." …
In a Nov. 2
memo to the City Council, Budd stated the "administrative
headaches" of increased requests to have
banners in the park
led the city to either "allow all banners or no banners."
The Tea Party is a headache all
right — the worst headache statist thugs have had since 1776. No
amount of Advil will make it go away.
